Mary Alice Cole's Blog
First and foremost, I would like to give an incredible shoutout to Mary Alice for the work she has done in class. You can find her blog right here.
Functionality:
This blog is incredibly neat in its functionality. At the top-left is a section where users can select how they want to view the blog. In flip card mode, each picture is shown and once the cursor hovers over the picture, it flips to show what the post is about. Magazine looks just like a magazine, mosaic takes all the images and arranges them beautifully, and snapshot has each photo surrounded by a polaroid print out.
When you click on a picture-button post, this page opens up to show the blog post. It is incredibly neat in its presentation, but most importantly, you can either go to the next blog by clicking the buttons on the upper-left corner or exit out of post's window at the upper-right and scroll through the other images to find the post you are looking for.
Design
Mary Alice's picture choice, placement, and use of white space are aesthetically pleasing. I am not a fan of text wrapping or blocking off text by an image, yet Mary Alice does it in a way that feels natural to the procurement of her blog. I am thoroughly impressed by this, as well as the subtle hints of the drop shadow in her images and other small pieces she throws together in her blog.
Content
Everything Mary Alice does is with prose. Every subject she has posted about, she has reviewed and taken an incredible amount of information in. Not only does she give an amazing amount of data, but she also writes in a style that is both easy to read but also attracts readers in.
Conclusion
Mary Alice's blog is beyond a shadow of a doubt my favorite blog in the class. Her knowledge of Blogger itself is incredible. This, coupled with her ability to write and design, would make her on track for even the highest of news organizations to show interest.
